29.06.2022. Wood can be used for diverse purposes, with lower environmental impacts than many alternative materials. Wood used once can be reused and recycled, thereby extending its life and further reducing its material footprint.
Timber is part of the dry sector and requires only solar energy in order to be produced. It is also the only material that emits no CO2 as it is produced, unlike concrete, aluminium and materials made from hydrocarbons. Timber is therefore one of the materials that we will have to rely on in the future mindful that it allows for the sequestration of CO2 throughout its use.
Contributing to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), INTERHOLCO's FSC-certified wood products seal a double alliance. On the one hand, with consumers and investors, enabling them to move towards sustainable production and consumption patterns (SDG 12). On the other hand, with architects, designers and specifiers, giving them an ideal ally to build green cities and a circular economy (SDG 11).
Markets are volatile, trends come and go. One thing is sure: end consumers are increasingly eco-friendly in their choices. Take climate change, economic uncertainty and social inequality: nobody wants timber from destructed forests!
The FSC® (Forest Stewardship Council® FSC® C022952) seal gives peace of mind. When we tell customers that our products respect people and the forest, we do not just say it, we engage an independent third party to certify it.
Behind FSC certification is a global community, collectively driving forest protection. Together, FSC members shape the criteria, procedures and regulations that allow independent auditors to personally check that forests are well protected.
Concretely, our teams involve local communities in the process, giving them access to economic benefits and more. Schools, medical facilities and a library are open to thousands of people. FSC allows us to show that prosperity and purpose coexist.

INTERHOLCO offers Sustainable Hardwood 'Made in Africa' as a responsible solution to promote better living conditions (construction with wood), reduce climate change, and increase social justice. As FSC-certified producer specialized in producing and trading logs, sawn timber, glued laminated scantlings and other products, INTERHOLCO manages the entire chain, from forest to customers since 1962. Harvesting wood selectively, INTERHOLCO protects 1.1 million hectares of natural forest from permanent conversion to agricultural land, giving 16’000 local inhabitants access to quality basic services and keeping the habitat of thousands of gorillas and elephants.
