10.11.2017. 'We are delighted to have done so well in SPOTT’s Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) assessment of timber, pulp and paper companies which values the engagement and efforts of our teams ,’ said Interholco CEO Ulrich Grauert.
Standing for Sustainability Policy Transparency Toolkit, SPOTT is a commodities monitoring platform led by the Zoological Society of London (ZSL), an international charity whose mission is to achieve the worldwide protection of animals and their habitats.
In its newly launched assessment, SPOTT gauges the progress of 24 companies, all of whom have significant operations in the world’s tropical forest basins, against a range of environmental and social sustainability indicators. A similar assessment had been conducted in 2014 to provide investors with intelligence on palm oil producers worldwide.
‘We were just going to launch INTERHOLCO’s Sustainability Report 2017 when SPOTT contacted us. We very much hope that SPOTT’s initiative will lead to a greater culture of transparency within our sector,’ said Mr Grauert.
With ESG-funds projected to grow in the next coming years, there could have been no better timing for SPOTT’s evaluation of timber, pulp and paper companies.
