21.03.2021. On the occasion of International Day of Forests (21 March), "Sustainable Hardwood – Made in Africa” delivers a message of crucial importance: the forest is more than just trees. She is the mother and source of traditional healing for the local communities and indigenous peoples who have interacted with her over the course of thousands of years.

She is the land where their identities, relationships, traditions and cultures come alive; the sacred being animated by their aspirations for the future.

That is why INTERHOLCO harvests wood according to the principles of the FSC label, the most demanding in the world in terms of responsible forest management.

INTERHOLCO harvests Made in Africa wood sustainably in its forest concession in the North of the Republic of Congo, ensuring access to wealth to the families who live from this activity, allowing them to realise their projects.

Diane TCHICAYA, mother of seven and assistant manager at IFO, our production site, tells us more in this video: https://youtu.be/jtVaYZ0QWAU

Talking wood

Of course, wood does not speak in and of itself. That is why INTERHOLCO has chosen to let the men and women of the trade have their say, in order to show the scope of the activities, the commitment of the teams, the future paths opened up by “Sustainable Hardwood –  Made in Africa” and the solutions it brings, in all areas.

About INTERHOLCO
INTERHOLCO offers Sustainable Hardwood 'Made in Africa' as a responsible solution to promote better living conditions (construction with wood), reduce climate change, and increase social justice. As FSC-certified producer specialized in producing and trading logs, sawn timber, glued laminated scantlings and other products, INTERHOLCO manages the entire chain, from forest to customers since 1962. Harvesting wood selectively, INTERHOLCO protects 1.1 million hectares of natural forest from permanent conversion to agricultural land, giving 16’000 local inhabitants access to quality basic services and keeping the habitat of thousands of gorillas and elephants.
